Once again, real life imitates The Onion/Thanks, karnythia.

Eight year old suspended for smelling a Sharpie marker. Not even the marker - the spot on his shirt that he accidentally got marker on. Never mind that Sharpies say "non toxic" right on them - quote from principal: "And in that time, smelling that marker, I felt like, 'Wow, that's a very serious marker."


Serious business.

Update: Principal defends himself. Includes a comment with his address so you can write him and explain why Sharpies are not a crime.

Actually, the bigger Sharpies are a crime if you're under 18 in San Francisco, but that's another issue.
