Proust Questionaire from emmabovary

Which living persons do you most admire?

My husband. My children. My father. My friends.

What is your greatest fear?
Enclosed spaces. Imprisonment.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

What is your greatest extravagance?
Speaking my mind even when it costs me socially or professionally.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Being "real" - as opposed to authentic. As Wilde said, "the first duty of man is to be as artificial as possible." It seems like the people who are most "natural" in terms of not having manners or the ability to tell a little white lie are also the people who are the least honest, deep down.

What do you dislike most about your appearance? My tummy. I'm over forty and have had three children and my weight fluctuates a lot - I don't mind being my age or size, but I wouldn't mind a sixteen year old's abs. I dislike this one because diet and exercise can't change skin tone.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? "Shush!" "Huh?" "Argh!"

What or who is the greatest love of your life? Friends and family.

Which talent would you most like to have? A better memory.

What is your current state of mind? Procrastination.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I’d have an evening out of my energy levels. I am generally either ON or OFF. (No, I am not bipolar, but I was raised by one.)

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be? I'd be closer to my relatives, we'd keep in touch more.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? My relationship with my children.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be? Statue.

What is your most treasured possession? My laptop and the sauce pan swaz gave me recently.

What is your favourite occupation? The most fun I had at my last job was doing geisha sorts of duties - for instance, taking advisory committes out to dinner after meetings and ordering for everyone and making sure that everyone is comfortable in their hotel and has had enough to eat and drink.

What is your most marked characteristic? I can be charming when I want to be.

What is the quality you most like in a man? Understanding.

What do you most value in your friends? Time spent together, our simpatico natures.

Who are your favourite writers?

Mark Twain, Octavia Butler, Philip K Dick

What is it that you most dislike? A bleak outlook, ranting when it's not funny enough, shrillness.

How would you like to die? I’ve said this before, but painlessly, awake, surrounded by people I love, outdoors, on a cliff overlooking the ocean after a very long, very healthy very happy life.

What is your motto? "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty."
